MOVIE: Reel Weddings

Part 4 and 5 will be a back to back blog about wedding, yup. Because today, what we are going to list down are the weddings that we all see – Weddings of the people we know from small to big screens. So in this blog, just take a look on the most popular wedding movies, and decide which one are you going to rent, or download together with some popcorn and soda:

20. The Wood (1999)
The Wood is a 1999 romantic comedy, written by Rick Famuyiwa and Todd Boyd. Famuyiwa also directed the film, which stars Omar Epps, Richard T. Jones, and Taye Diggs. The Wood premiered on Cinemax in July 2012. It is the first film from the Paramount Pictures library after 1997 to show on Cinemax or HBO.

19. The Best Man (1999)

The Best Man is a 1999 romantic comedy-drama film, written and directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It was produced by 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, with Lee's cousin, Spike Lee, serving as producer. The film stars Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut and Sanaa Lathan, and is considered to be a male-centered answer to female-targeted films such as Waiting to Exhale.This is not to be confused with the 1964 film based on the Gore Vidal play. 

18. The Proposal (2009)

The Proposal is a 2009 American romantic comedy film set in Sitka, Alaska. Directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Peter Chiarelli, the film features Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in the leading roles, with Betty White, Mary Steenburgen, and Craig T. Nelson in supporting roles. The film was produced by Mandeville Films and released on June 19, 2009, in North America by Touchstone Pictures. The plot centers on a Canadian immigrant named Margaret Tate, who learns that she may face deportation charges because of her expired visa. Determined to retain her position as executive chief, Tate convinces her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to temporarily act as her husband. Initially planning on resuming their lives after Tate resolves her visa issues, they appear to abandon those plans as their relationship intensifies.

17. Four Weddings and a Funeral (1999)

Four Weddings and a Funeral is a 1994 British romantic comedy film directed by Mike Newell. It was the first of several films by screenwriter Richard Curtis to feature Hugh Grant. The film was an unexpected success, becoming the highest-grossing British film in cinema history at the time, with worldwide box office in excess of $245.7 million, and receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.
 

16.  The Wedding Date (2005)

The Wedding Date is an 2005 American romantic comedy film directed by Clare Kilner and starring Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney, and Amy Adams. Based on the novel Asking for Trouble by Elizabeth Young, the film is about a single woman who hires a male escort to pose as her boyfriend at her sister's wedding in order to dupe her ex-fiancé, who dumped her a few years prior. The release was successful achieving $47 million worldwide at the box office against a budget of $15 million.

15. License to Wed (2007)

License to Wed (spelled Licence to Wed outside the United States) is a 2007 American romantic comedy film starring Robin Williams, Mandy Moore and John Krasinski, and directed by Ken Kwapis. The film was released in theaters on July 3, 2007. 

14. Made of Honor (2008)

Made of Honor (Made of Honour in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and Australia) is a 2008 American romantic comedy film directed by Paul Weiland and story written by Adam Sztykiel (screenplay by Sztykiel, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont). It was produced by Neal H. Moritz and was released by Columbia Pictures in North America on May 2, 2008. The film includes the last screen appearance of Sydney Pollack.

13. Father of the Bride (1991)

 Father of the Bride is a 1991 American comedy film starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams, George Newbern, Martin Short, B.D. Wong and Kieran Culkin. It is a remake of the 1950 film of the same name. In 1995, a sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, was released.

The film inspired a series of Hallmark commercials that featured the smiling faces of the happy couple and sneak-peeks at the backs of numerous greeting cards. This film is number 92 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies".

12. American Wedding (2003)

American Wedding (known as American Pie: The Wedding, in some countries) is a 2003 American romantic comedy film and a sequel to American Pie and American Pie 2 as part of the American Pie theatrical series. It was written by Adam Herz and directed by Jesse Dylan. Another sequel, American Reunion, was released nine years later. This also stands as the last film in the series to be written by Herz, who conceptualized the franchise.

11. 27 Dresses (2008)

27 Dresses is a 2008 romantic comedy film directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Aline Brosh McKenna. The film stars Katherine Heigl. The film was released January 10, 2008 in Australia. 

10. Bride Wars (2009)

Bride Wars is a 2009 American romantic comedy film directed by Gary Winick and written by Greg DePaul, June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson.^[2] The film stars Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Candice Bergen, Bryan Greenberg, Chris Pratt, Steve Howey and Kristen Johnston.

09. Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

Sweet Home Alabama is an American romantic comedy film directed by Andy Tennant, starring Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas, and Patrick Dempsey. The film was distributed by Touchstone Pictures and released on September 27, 2002.

08. The Wedding Planner

The Wedding Planner is a 2001 romantic comedy film directed by Adam Shankman, written by Michael Ellis and Pamela Falk, and starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey.

07. Father of the Bride (1950)

Father of the Bride is a 1950 American comedy film about a man trying to cope with preparations for his daughter's upcoming wedding.^[2][3] The movie stars Spencer Tracy in the titular role, Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor, Don Taylor, Billie Burke, and Leo G. Carroll. It was adapted by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett from the novel by Edward Streeter, and directed by Vincente Minnelli. Father of the Bride was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay.

06. Mama Mia! (2008)

Mamma Mia! (promoted as Mamma Mia! The Movie) is a 2008 British musical/romantic comedy film adapted from the 1999 West End/2001 Broadway musical of the same name, based on the songs of successful pop group ABBA, with additional music composed by ABBA member Benny Andersson. The film was directed by Phyllida Lloyd and distributed by Universal Pictures in partnership with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's Playtone and Littlestar,^[2] and the title originates from ABBA's 1975 chart-topper "Mamma Mia". Meryl Streep heads the cast, playing the role of single mother Donna Sheridan. Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård play the three possible fathers to Donna's daughter, Sophie played by Amanda Seyfried.

05. The Wedding Singer (1998)

The Wedding Singer is a 1998 romantic comedy film written by Tim Herlihy and directed by Frank Coraci. It stars Adam Sandler as a wedding singer in the 1980s and Drew Barrymore as a waitress with whom he falls in love. The film was produced by Robert Simonds for $18 million and grossed $80.2 million in the United States and $123.3 million worldwide. 

04. My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)

My Best Friend's Wedding is a 1997 romantic comedy film directed by P.J. Hogan, starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everett, and Philip Bosco. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and is considered to be one of the two most famous of Julia Roberts' films (the other being 1990's Pretty Woman).^[1] Commercially, it was a global box-office hit and being one of the highest grossing films of 1997.

03. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a 2002 Canadian-American romantic comedy film written by and starring Nia Vardalos and directed by Joel Zwick. The film is centered on Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, a middle class Greek American woman who falls in love with a non-Greek upper middle class "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" Ian Miller. At the 75th Academy Awards, it was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. A sleeper hit, the film became the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time,^[2] and grossed $241.4 million in North America, despite never reaching number one at the box office during its release (the highest-grossing film to accomplish this feat). 

02. Runaway Bride (1999)

Runaway Bride is a 1999 American romantic comedy film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere and directed by Garry Marshall. The screenplay was written by Josann McGibbon, Audrey Wells and Sara Parriott.

01. Wedding Crashers  (2005)

Wedding Crashers is a 2005 American comedy film directed by David Dobkin. It stars Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Christopher Walken. The film opened on July 15, 2005. The DVD was released on January 3, 2006, including an unrated version, and the Blu-ray version was released on December 30, 2008.
